I purchased these paper cups to make fire starters for winter camping. These paper cups are good quality for my use.My recipe... I take the bag of pine wood sawdust that I collected at the local lumber yard (most will give it to you if you sweep up for them) and fill up about 20 cups set up on wax paper on a cookie sheet.While I am filling the cups with saw dust, I have Gulf brand paraffin wax heating in the top pot of a double boiler. I do this because hot wax is FLAMABLE .Once the water is hot, the wax will keep melting so I turn off the burner and unroll several cotton balls. You can use dryer lint also.I cut the unrolled cotton ball into pieces that cover the tops of the saw dust filled cups.Now with one hand, pour the melted wax into each cup until the top of the sawdust is damp... After each is damp, press a piece of the cut up cotton ball into the wax until it sticks and sucks up some of the wax... If it sticks to your fingers then press down with a spoon back..When you get ready to use them, scrape the top of the cotton ball with a knife edge, hit the fluffed cotton with a spark and start your fire. These burn for SEVEAL minutes each so they start even damp wood pretty well.And there you go, Fire starters for pennies.
