A good healthy food choice from the leading doctor in the world on the best diet for a long life.Dr. McDougall's Teriyaki noodle cups are impossible to find in stores in my area, so I was happy to find them on Amazon. I'm a huge Teriyaki flavor fan as are other members of my household. The ordering process on Amazon is confusing. The Teriyaki flavor is not available under the variety "Teriyaki". Instead you have to order the Spicy Szechuan flavor in order to receive Teriyaki. I did submit this information to Amazon in hopes that they would correct the confusing order page, but that has yet to happen.I try whenever possible to stick to products that are non GMO due to various food allergies. I was pretty satisfied with the ingredient list for this product.Ingredient list: Organic Unbleached Wheat Flour, Organic Sugar, Organic Starch, Soy Sauce Powder (contains: Soybeans, Wheat, and Salt), Natural Flavors, Dried Garlic, Yeast Extracts, Sea Salt, Dried Shallot, Organic Wheat Gluten, Organic Vinegar Powder, Dried Onion, Dried Green Onion, Dried Organic Caramel Color, and Dried Sesame.Speaking of allergies, I have many allergies including shellfish. I did not experience any allergic reactions to this product. However the product label states that the facility that they manufacture this product in uses "peanuts and other allergens". Personally I wish companies would state which allergens instead of making blanket statements. The cooking instructions for this product are absolute junk. The directions state to cook it for 2 minutes and then let it sit for 5 minutes to finish cooking. Using these instructions the noodles were raw and crunchy. After some experimenting with 2 1/2 minutes and 3 minutes, we settled on 3 minutes and 30 seconds. The time was perfect.I tasted the product for the first time. The noodles themselves are extremely tasty and do not have the cardboard flavor that other organic noodles tend to have. The real problem with the taste is the flavor packet. There is zero Teriyaki taste at all. There is also zero salt taste. The flavor is very sugary like brown sugar and tastes terrible.I'm a picky eater, so I decided to let my significant other eat one of the noddle cups because he'll eat just about anything. He described the flavor as gross and too sugary. I've never tasted a noodle product that tastes like pure brown sugar before. We tried to save the remaining cups by draining the noodles and using them "ramen" style. This was unsuccessful because the flavor packet is just plain disgusting. We ended up making the rest using chicken bouillon cubes and will not buy this product again.First, I'm a Dr. McDougall fan, and have followed his diet since 1992. I'm very happy he has his own line of vegan foods.I bought TWELVE of these Thai noodles with peanut sauce for my vegan Boy Scout son, who went on a long backpack trip, and needed to carry all his food, ready to prepare. We bought several different meals, and tried them before his trip.I thought he would love this product, because he loves Thai noodles and peanut sauce. But he did NOT like this product -- flavor was a little off, and the peanut sauce was too runny when the specified amount of water was used. I don't know if the noodles would be properly softened if less water were used.Anyway, he did NOT take this item with him on the trip. Now I have 11 cups of this stuff he won't eat -- any takers?I really wish McDougall, and other companies, would offer either single cups, or a variety pack, where one could try several different flavors to decide which ones, if any, they like.I'm still a Dr. McDougall devotee, just not a fan of this particular item.Make no mistake... this is a pre-packaged, instant convenience food. That said, it's quite good for what it is. Also easy to make: add water, microwave one minute on high, stir, microwave 4 minutes on low. I prefer that method to the microwave 2 minutes, let stand 10 minutes directions of many other Dr McDougall's soups. Unfortunately, my microwave doesn't have a high or low setting so it was just a little dry by the end of the last 4 minutes. I'd probably do 2 or 3 minutes for the second microwaving and see how that goes next time.I also think the packaging is a little misleading. It looks similar to the packaging of products like Annie Chun's Udon Soup Noodle Bowl in which you have more of a bowl or meal tray that contains noodles and flavor or sauce packets. It is in fact a soup cup to which you add water and flavor powder. I assumed the higher price (vs regular Dr McDougall's soup cups) and the description of 'Entree' meant it would be more like the former, with actual noodles and sauce. The noodles are much more like ramen noodles. That aside, the flavor is good, though I much prefer the I've tried several different Dr. McDougall noodle and soup entrees and this is one of the better ones. They're easy to make, Just peel back the foil covering from the top of the cup, add the flavor packet that's inside and stir a bit. Add water to the fill line and microwave for 1 minute and 45 seconds. Then stir and let stand for 5 minutes. You could also add boiling water to the fill line and then let it stand. I added more water than suggested to make it more of a soup and this seemed to work out well. They aren't as spicy as I like so I added a few drops of Tabasco.I like that these are vegan and that they're easy to store in the pantry for when you don't know what else to make or when you're in a hurry. They would also be good to take along when traveling and could easily be made in a hotel room with hot water from the coffee maker on if you have a microwave in your room. They're 200 calories per cup, so they could also make a quick diet lunch or dinner, maybe paired with a green salad.
